My Pretty New Sofa!
Hello friends! I'm so exited! I have been lusting after a white slipcovered sofa for hmmm... about 17 years or so! Ever since I first learned about Rachel Ashwell and her Shabby Chic style. What I love is that a white couch can go with pretty much any style. Now before you call me crazy for getting a white sofa when I have 3 boys 10 & under, let me tell you I did my research first. I have found many bloggers who have kids and pets and they say that they love their white slipcovers, that they wash well, that the stains come out (with a little bleach if needed), and that they would buy them all over again! So we bought an Ikea Ektorp! I love how versatile white is! I can easily change my look or color scheme anytime. Great for a girl like me who never tires of changing her surroundings! I wanted to dress it up a little for it's blog debut so I wrapped a pretty black and white dishtowel around the middle cushion and added two throw pillows. I wrapped a apron around one of them. As you can see I was so exited I didn't even bother to try to get any wrinkles out first!
Obviously this sofa will take more care and upkeep than a darker colored one, but I think having a living room that makes me smile and feel happy each time I walk into it is worth it, don't you?
Now I just need a nice chair for sweet husband and a slipcover for my very sturdy and big (but very ugly) $5 Goodwill ottoman. On our next visit I will show you what gorgeous things I won in a giveaway from the lovely and talented Petite Michelle Louise!
Michelle xoxo

Love your new sofa! I recently found a Pottery Barn Basic sofa on Craigslist, but it has a light tan cover, but will someday soon get a white cover for it ~ thought it was a Basic, but I believe it's a Grand, because the size & dimensions are larger than those of the basic. So it might be harder to find a cover for it....I won't give up though :)
Your new sofa looks so pretty. I own the same one and I love mine. Mine is about four years old and still looking great. Love your painted frames too.

Danielle
I love my white slip covered couch, it does wash well. I resorted to getting a white sheet from the thrift store (I found ones with a lace edge) and throw those over just the back and seat cushions and tuck it in and then throw that in the wash once a week. It got to be a pain to remove the whole cover and wash it. It works well for me and it still looks really cute and shabby. Just something to keep in the back of your head. Your living room is darling!! I was really impressed with the center back cushion...Even if it was just a cloth, great idea!

You can't really go wrong with a white soft - as you say, it is so easy to change the look with different coloured cushions and throws.

I do have a white covered Ektorp.
I do have three little kids.
Well, mine is not as white as yours, but i'm satisfied about this couch!
Allthough it's a bit old now and weared out after all that years...we wont buy a new couch untill the youngest is four years old!
I tried a red cover once, but could not get used to it.
I'm making new pillows at the moment and will show these somewhere these days on my blog...on my couch.
Take a peek then and you will see how your couch will look like in about 8 years from now ;-)
When you launder your covers, add some soda or dentures cleaning tablets into your washingmachine
Makes it clean and white!!

I have the same sofa and the chair w/ ottoman and love it. I bought another set of covers so I can wash and change every few months. You have a very cute look going, I have the same colors in my house. Enjoy!!
Hello sweet Michelle! I am so happy and excited for you sweetie!!!! Your pillows and tea towel look perfect on your new sofa! I love the white!!! Like you, I have always wanted a white slipcovered sofa! Hopefully one day! :) Yes, you will be able to keep it clean with no problem! I love all of your pretty vignettes too! Beautifully done as always! Have a beautiful weekend sweet friend and enjoy your gorgeous new, comfy sofa! Much love and lots of hugs! xo~Paula
I am so loving your lovely new white sofa, Looking at my brown one now and thinking aaaaaaaahhh! I know it's practical with 3 wee boys though. Nice to discover you, Becca
serenely gorgeous! i am on the hunt for a white sofa myself. i LOVE yours! ;)
It looks beautiful Michelle!
I have a big comfy white couch too!
I have two Erktop couches (one is a loveseat) and I have 2 boys under 10. :) People think I'm a little crazy too. ;) I love that the covers can be washed. Our old couch was so stained and nothing would get the stains out. Now, if only I could talk my hubby into getting rid of our stained carpet and getting flooring instead. :)
I suddenly thought of getting a white concept living room.
Thanks for stopping by. Great sofa, we have one and I couldn't be happier, in fact we have two of the matching chairs too. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
Yes it is gorgeous! Nothing better than white slip covers. Thanks for sharing. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
Lovely sofa, it's great to be surrounded by things that make you happy isn't it?
I think the saying if mama ain't happy nobody's happy applies to sofas too. I also covet white couches and not sure I'm as brave as you, so you will have to give us all honest feedback on what the boys dish out (or on) the couch. And the dishtowel looks awesome on it.

The best thing is that you love it ... and I agree washing a slip cover is easy... The room looks fabulous!!!! Hugs
Michelle, I love your new sofa! And I love the look of the printing on the middle cushion! I think you said it was a dishtowel- but how pretty if you made that permanent!
Hi, Michelle,
Your new sofa is very pretty, and you will have fun embellishing it with pretty pillows! I love those eggs you made for Easter. I really have a thing for pretty eggs. I also noticed you visited Belton and some of the antique shops there. I live in Temple which is just a stone's throw from Belton. I am very familiar with both shops you visited there. I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friend~ Vicki
Michelle, I love your white sofa....I too have one and you are right on all levels:) It makes decorating and changing sooooo easy! Thanks for you sweet words on my blog! I had no idea you too were dealing with the many faces of Autism:( It is a struggle but not one we can't overcome! These children are so special and need our support. I will take your offer seriously and hope you will do the same! hugs, Linda
